The Frame

The Colnago Master — an icon of Italian steel craftsmanship. Built with Columbus steel tubing in a timeless black and gold livery. The star-shaped tubing cross-section that defines the Master series provides exceptional torsional rigidity while maintaining the legendary suppleness that made these frames the choice of champions.

Columbus Steel

Columbus, the Milanese tubing house founded in 1919, defined the golden age of steel racing. Their crimped, star-shaped, and profiled tubes pushed the boundaries of what thin-walled steel could achieve — light, stiff, and unmistakably Italian in character.

Market Notes

The Colnago Master is one of the most iconic steel road frames ever produced. Modern re-issues (still in production at ~EUR 3'950 frameset new) and original vintage models from the 1980s–1990s occupy very different price brackets. The 1996 model with Columbus tubing sits in the vintage/collectible category.
