The Founder’s Background

Dom Mason entered the cycling industry in 1999, spending 15 years with Kinesis UK and its parent company Upgrade Bikes, where he built a reputation for designing innovative off-road and adventure-oriented frames. His experience gave him an intimate understanding of frame design, materials science, and the gap between what riders wanted and what the mainstream industry offered.

Founding Mason Cycles

In 2014, Dom and Julie Mason launched Mason Cycles with a clear mission: to create bikes that fully embraced the possibilities of modern components—disc brakes, tubeless tyres, and through-axles—combined with the finest frame materials. The decision to manufacture in Italy, rather than Taiwan, allowed Dom to be far more hands-on with the production process, working directly with skilled Italian fabricators to ensure every detail met his exacting standards.

Mason’s headquarters sits on the edge of the South Downs in Sussex, housed in buildings some 400 years old that have been thoughtfully converted into a modern workshop and showroom.
